They finally unveiled a concept at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show.The 2013 Volkswagen BlueSport Roadster will be a fairly-priced, good (not great) performance vehicle. It’s likely to be powered by a 2.0-liter engine (similar to the one used in the Jetta or inAudi’s A3), or a 2.0-liter turbo four (optional). The steering wheel will probably be the same, though: an automatic 7-speed automatic DSG with a manual mode. To shift the gears manually, the driver can use the two shifters mounted on the wheel, although the automatic shifting saves up on the fuel consumption.Speaking of the fuel consumption, according to Volkswagen, their very first sports car will go about 35-50 mpg, with CO2 emissions of only 113. It will go from 0 to 60 in 6.2 seconds, which is pretty good for the intended pricing.The 2013 Volkswagen BlueSport Roadster features a navigation system, electro-hydraulic power steering, a stop/start system for the engine, antilock 4-wheel disk brakes and a 4-wheel independent transmission. Volkswagen says that the BlueSport Roadster’s top will be the lightest in its class.It is possible that such a vehicle becomes available for purchase sometime this year, but Volkswagen hasn’t officially stated anything about a release date. 2012 Toyota Yaris Hybrid

Toyota is about to add another model to its hybrid line-up and, no surprise here, it’s based on the company’s best sold model on the European market: the Yaris. The new Yaris Hybrid is set to make its world debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March with sales in Europe beginning shortly thereafter.

The new Yaris Hybrid will be powered by the first downsizing of Toyota’s HSD powertrain that combines a new 1.5 liter petrol engine with a lighter, more compact electric motor, transaxle, inverter, and battery pack. This new system is about 20% lighter than that of the engine found in the Auris Hybrid and will deliver a total of 100 HP. It will be mated to a standard automatic transmission.

Next to having a hybrid powertrain, the new Yaris Hybrid will also be offered with an exclusive, aerodynamically efficient exterior design. This means it will have a new, more assertive Under Priority trapezoid opening frontal design element with the Keen Look design implemented on the front lamps.

2013 Ford Fusion

The all new Ford Fusion was showcased at the Detroit Auto Show representing the evolution of sedans. In the new model you can find hints of Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, and Aston Martindesigns. This new concept is unofficially called “Kinetic 2.0”Chris Hamilton, the British exterior design chief of the all-new, 2013 Ford Fusion said: “We put a lot of emphasis, to create something that we think will be different in the marketplace. We’ll have a sophisticated feel. We’ll be elegant. We’ll be somewhat unexpected in North America, from Ford, and we’ll set ourselves apart from Camry and Accord … We wanted to create a beautiful-looking car. That’s always been our number-one objective.The body of the Fusion increased 1.1 inches in length, 0.5 inches in width, and 5 inches in wheelbase making it look much larger. The detailing of the creases running from the headlights through the door handles to the rear window gives is a sharp character. Ford’s signature above the grille has a new brushed-aluminum surrounding the Blue Oval emblem. The underbody trays and new distinguished shaped mirrors improve aerodynamics. The laminated windshield and seal around the hood reduces engine noise.Ford gives buyers the choice of three engines. A 170-hp 2.5 L four cylinder 6 speed automatic, 179-hp 1.6L EcoBoost turbo 6 speed automatic or manual, or 237-hp 2.0L EcoBoost 6 speed automatic. The all wheel drive is available only to the 2.0L fusion. The stop-start engine system is standard on all models whose role is to reduce fuel consumption and emission by 3.5%.Customers that buy the hybrid get a new 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder which replaces the outgoing 2.5-liter unit. A permanent-magnet AC synchronous motor holds up the electrical end of the momentum bargain which helps to boost total system output to 185 hp and 130 lb-ft of torque. An electronically controlled continuously variable transmission sends the power to the wheels. Lighter and more powerful lithium-ion batteries that replaces the previous Fusion hybrid’s nickel-metal hydride batteries which increases the fully electric top speed from 47 to 62 mph.As far as technology goes Ford incorporated the adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping system, blind-spot warning, active park assist and the MyFord Touch system is available on the features list. Other than these items Ford isn’t saying much more. The interior is for sure impressive, comfortable and elegant. The surfaces are blended with soft materials, high quality sound reducing plastic, and chrome accents. The roofline steeps but there are indentations in the rear seat for passengers’ heads. Legroom is imporoved because the front seats are thinner than the previous model. Trunk space is reduced from 16.5 cubic feet to 15.4 cubic feet.

Peugeot EX1 concept – the mini Bat Mobile

Peugeot designed a new concept – the new EX1. Powered by electric engines, each producing 170 horsepower and 240Nm, for a total of 340 horsepower, the new EX1 goes from 0 to 60 in under 3.5 seconds, and reaches its top speed of 162 mph in just 6.6 seconds.

The outer design has multiple purposes. Of course it gives the car a great aerodynamic performance and a brilliant sporty look, but it also enables the car to have a very small weight of only 750kg. The body of the car is made from carbon fiber, and has a length of only 3.54 meters.

The windshield is almost non-existent. The EX1 only has two seats, and its body looks like it’s made for track, so the word Roadster would be an appropriate part in the car’s name. The large exhaust is placed behind the driver’s head, and increases the similarity to the fictional “Bat-Mobile”.

Peugeot stated their intentions of giving their EX1 the best performance there is on any electric car, and so they’ve done. The amazing acceleration and speed is not only beyond reached for any other electric car, but also better than some internal combustion sport correspondents as well.

This car looks great and handles even better –it’s a pitty that Peugeot hasn’t released any information about a release date or price.

2012 Maybach 62S Landaulet

2012 Aston Martin One-77

Aston Martin has released some information and photographs on their new One-77. As expected, the car looks stunningly beautiful, and the performance that is promised is outstanding.

Both the exterior and the interior design are very good. The interior will probably contain every single piece of luxury the passenger or driver would want. According to the Aston Martin CEO, the interior design will be minimalist, and every object will have a specific purpose.

As far as performance goes, this car isn’t meant to take the Bugatti Veyron head on – but it’s not far away from that either. The 7.3L V12 produces a massive 750 horsepower and about 533 lb-ft of torque. Aston Martin has managed to increase the power of their previous 6.0L V12, and at the same time to reduce its mass by 10 per cent. Altogether, this car is 25 per cent lighter than the DB9. Judging by the power and torque of the engine, it is estimated that the One-77 will have a top speed of around 220 mph, and will accelerate from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds or less.

The braking will be done using Aston’s Carbon Ceramic Matrix brake technology, which produces less heat.

The price will start at $1.4 million, and there will be only 77 One-77’s produced, so if you have $1.4 million to spend on a car, I recommend you buy this one.

As if we expect anything less from Vorsteiner.The carbon fiber V-MS components have been designed to fit cars equipped with the M-Sport package and includes a new front spoiler, a boot lid lip, a new diffuser section on the rear bumper, a bolt-on replacement cat-back performance exhaust system that’s available in either stainless steel or titanium, with the aforementioned exhaust slashing off about 25% of the weight from the standard equipment fitted by BMW into the 5-Series F10.The whole set of modifications don’t come with any engine enhancements, which means that you’ll still see the 5er’s eight-cylinder engine boasting of an output that could reach up to 407 horsepower.We know the deal about getting an uptick in power, but with already 407 ponies at your disposal with the 5-Series, you could do away without one, especially if you’re carrying Vorsteiner’s V-MS body kit program.

The Japanese model will come powered by a new version of the FB flat-4 with a turbocharger. Our sources say that the 2.0-liter engine will produce 330 bhp and 324 lb.-ft. of torque, which is 8 bhp and 12 lb.-ft. more than the current domestic model. Despite the additional power, we expect fuel economy to improve.The price is expected to be around $35,000, but we’re hoping Subaru will be able to bring that down to the $30,000 mark. With the high value of the Japanese yen to the American dollar, however, that might prove impossible. But we do know that the car will be one potent machine. The product general manager of the Impreza, Akihide Takeuchi, said that although he can’t comment on the progress of the car, it would be safe for all of us to have very high expectations.

Set for an official debut next spring, when it will be shown during the 2012 New York Auto Show, the CLC will be based on the next-generation A-class and B-class—neither of which has been sold here in the U.S. Sales should begin shortly after the NY show.From these images, the CLC (depicted as a sedan and a wagon) has a bold new look, with a prominent grille and no shortage of side character lines. This latter design element has come in for some criticism on the larger CLS, with some finding the side profile too busy in appearance.It will be interesting to see if the same sedan/coupe treatment works on the more petite frame of the CLC. While we love station wagons, U.S. car buyers tend to prefer small crossovers. Mercedes-Benz is guaranteed to spin an all-wheel-drive crossover off the CLC’s platform.
