Lamborghini to launch third ‘everyday’ model

The head of Lamborghini has confirmed the Italian supercar brand will add a third model to its line-up, stressing that it will be one designed for “everyday” use.Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said the new practical Raging Bull was a key part of the brand’s future plans.We are going to have a third model. It has to be an everyday car,” Mr Winkelmann told Reuters.We want to have a car which is able to be used on a daily basis.
He admitted few details of the everyday Lamborghini had been locked in, with even the basic shape still to be determined. Could it be a four-door coupe to rival the Aston Martin Rapide? Or a shooting brake like the new Ferrari FF? Or even an SUV to take on the Porsche Cayenne and myriad other soft-road sports competitors?
Whatever Lamborghini finally decides on, Mr Winkelmann said it would take around four years after the plans were locked in to make the car a reality.
Therefore, best case scenario is that we won’t see the everyday Lamborghini on the road until at least 2015.
The third model, adding to the Gallardo and the all-new Aventador, is intended to broaden the brand’s appeal globally and take the famous Italian manufacturer to record sales numbers. Lamborghini’s best year was 2008, when it sold 2430 vehicles around the world. Last year that dropped to 1302, as many people awaited the launch of the Aventador. Patent woes threaten V8 hybrid in Verde supercar

According to a recent report, Revenge Designs has killed off the hybrid version of the Verde supercar.While details are limited, Straightline is reporting the hybrid engine, built by Ohio-based HP2G, is involved in a patent dispute that has ended all hopes of a production launch in the Verde. It was expected to produce 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS) and 500 lb-ft (677 Nm) of torque, while returning 110 mpg (2.14 liters/100 km).Regardless, RD still plans to offer the Verde with a 605 hp (451 kW / 613 PS) supercharged 5.0-liter Ford V8 and a 638 hp (476 kW / 647 PS) supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 engine from the Corvette ZR-1.Despite the setback, the company has recently announced plans to introduce the Verde, which is now referred to as the RSC Blade, at the SEMA Motor Show in Las Vegas this November. It will feature the aforementioned petrol engines and a base price of $195,500 (€150,910).

The toggle settings range from about 75 kW to zero recuperation, a level called “sailing.” This setting gives the driver the ability to modify the characteristics of the acceleration to match the needs or wants of the driver.

J mays, the vice president of Ford’s global design and chief creative officer said that the next-generation Mustang will be a ‘very cool car’. He also said that the 2014Mustang will be ‘a jump forward’ from any point of view.
Mays said that the car will still remain a pure blood muscle car, but at the same time it still has ’50 years of life left in it’. The Ford engineers will add some technology to the 2014 Mustang, but still keep it simple to understand: engine in the front, traction in the back and a steering wheel in the middle.
The current Mustang already has great handling capabilities, but engineers are planning to mount an independent rear suspension which could improve lateral grip and ride refinement. It is also said that the next-gen Mustang will use direct injection and a Power Shift dual-clutch transmission.

Ferrari readying all new 599 replacement based on the FF for launch in 2012

The new generation of the RX-8 will use a more advanced version of the current 1.3 liter rotary engine.
The present version of the RX-8 has 231 HP, gets to 100km/h in just 6.4 seconds and has a top speed of 234 km/h. The new RX-8 will receive the same center-opening door system installed on the current version, which makes getting in and out of the car easier. The new car will also feature a front-midship engine, rear-wheel drive and an ideal weight distribution for perfect handling.

2012 Chevrolet Corvette / Z06 / ZR1

The 2012 Corvette also gets some performance-oriented upgrades as well, though the lion’s share of them go to the hard-core Z06 model, which arguably doesn’t need anything more than more grip to handle the 505 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque from its 7.0-liter V-8. Fortunately, additional grip it will get, in the form of newly available Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires. They will be available as part of the Z07 handling package for the Z06, and also for the ZR1 as part of its new PDE performance package. Measuring 285/30-19 in front and 335/25-20 in back, the new tires will help the Vette corner at more than 1.1g, according to Chevy. (That claim is not as outrageous as it may seem. We’ve recorded 1.07 in both a Z06 and a ZR1.) Also helpful are the new lightweight aluminum wheels paired with the new tires, which will be offered in satin black or machined finishes. More important, each wheel weighs about five pounds less than its counterpart on the current car.

Also new to the Z06 is Performance Traction Management, which, in a nutshell, is multiple, driver-selectable stability control programs and launch control. While we love tire smoke and yaw as much as anybody, the prospect of a more-controllable Z06 sounds good to us.
