Audi R8 Facelift Planned For 2013 Model; New Generation To Follow In 2014

We’ve already touched on the report that the next-generation Audi R8 has been scheduled for a 2014 release (in Europe) with rumors circulating that we’ll be seeing a facelift version of the supercar before that time comes. Now, we can put the rumors to rest, because according to CAR, a face lifted version of the R8 is now being penned for late next year as a 2013 model.

As can be expected with a facelift model, Audi is only opting for minor tweaks on both the exterior and interior of the car. It appears that the 2013 R8 will - for the first time - carry a refreshed grille that was first introduced last year by the e-Tron Spyder Concept. New headlights are also in the plans, as is a new S-tronic dual clutch gearbox, which replaces the R-tronic sequential manual gearbox on the current model.

Some other prominent changes expected to be made on the face lifted R8 are the use of Audi’s latest MMI interface system, an increased use of carbon fiber to cut down the car’s weight and, most importantly, an improved engine output from the current model’s 525-horsepower output all to the way to the neighborhood of 540 horsepower.

This is the first time that these details have been divulged, so we’re more than curious to see how the facelift model of the iconic R8 will look and feel like before Audi ushers in the next generation model in 2014.

Volvo’s New V60 D6 Plug-In Diesel-Electric Hybrid in Europe

After the appearance of the new V60 D6 Plug in Hybrid in the Motor Show at Geneva held last March, Volvo has presented with more information and pricing in some countries which also include Britain, where it is available for order from early 2012 with the first deliveries that is expected to begin from November. In the UK, this model will cost from £45,000 and £50,000 which does not include the plug-in Car Grant government subsidy. The V60 D6, pegged as the first diesel electric plug in hybrid model in the world is equipped with a 2.4 L five cylinder turbodiesel which gives an output of 215 HP and 440 Nm torque which drives the front wheels through a six speed automatic transmission and an electric motor of 70 HP which draws energy from a lithium ion battery of 11.2 kWh.

The new model can work in three different modes. In the hybrid mode the diesel as well as the electric engine works parallely achieving upto 621 miles and emitting 49g/km CO2. While in pure mode, it is powered by the electric mode which offers a range of 32 miles. The driver can select power mode for maximum result. In this mode both the motors work together giving an output of 215HP +70HP and 440+200 Nm torque respectively. In this case this model accelerates upto 100km/hr in 6.2 seconds.

2014 Lotus Esprit

The legend is back! Lotus has unveiled today the new Esprit sports car. Described as the "ultimate Lotus," the new Esprit will go into production at the end of 2012, with first deliveries beginning in late 2013, early 2014. Lotus announced an estimated price of £110,000 ($175,000 at the current rates).

At the unveiling of the Evora S model in San Jose in June 2011, Lotus Cars USA PR boss, Kevin Smith, confirmed that the Esprit supercar would be getting Lotus’ in-house V8 engine and both a manual and a dual-clutch transmission. This V8 engine was originally said to deliver between 550 - 570 HP, but actually achieved 570 HP at around 9000rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque at a bit higher than 3000rpm. Lotus Chief Technical Officer, Wolf Zimmermann, says this engine can reach up to 630 HP at 9,400 rpm and 424 lb-ft of torque between 5,500 and 6,000rpm. The V8 weighs in at about 375 lbs, which is about 176 lbs lighter than the original 5.0L V8 Lotus was going to borrow from Lexus. It will be used for both the Esprit and, as confirmed by Smith, an even more exotic Elite.

"One has to be very careful when taking on the challenge of reinventing such an iconic classic as the Esprit – everyone has an opinion. There’s a fine balance between acknowledging the greatness of the past whilst at the same time rapidly leaping forward to the future and ensuring that this car not only does the name Esprit justice but also the Lotus brand. I think we’ve managed to find the balance and in doing so created a new icon, a car people will find hard to resist."

 Lotus officials has confirmed that the next generation Esprit will be powered by a 4.8 liter V8 engine. This new engine will deliver a total of 570 HP in standard version, but the company will be also offering a higher-tuned variant with an output of 620 HP. (Autoblog)

2014 Subaru BRZ Convertible

The 2013 Subaru BRZ was recently revealed during the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show and speculation is already building about a convertible version of this hot rear-wheel-drive sports coupe. We recently got behind the wheel of the BRZ and raved about the car’s flexible nature, which blends spirited dynamics with everyday practicality. Having a drop-top variant would only increase the enjoyment levels – especially when it comes to basking in the “exuberant” exhaust note of the car’s 200-bhp 2.0-liter flat-4 cylinder.At the moment, the BRZ Coupe is good for a 0-60 mph sprint of less than 7 seconds. A convertible would undoubtedly add some extra mass onto the coupe’s 2,770 lb. curb weight. That might take a slight edge off performance; yet according to some sources, a convertible is part of the BRZ (and mechanically identical Toyota 86/Scion FR-S) project. That means the chassis should cope with the loss of the hardtop using only a minimal amount of extra bracing. Like the coupe, expect a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with paddle shifters.No word yet as to whether the BRZ drop-top might be fabric, or a folding metal system. To keep the price low, we think Subaru is more likely to opt for a cheaper and less complex fabric top. From these computer-generated images, you might want to just leave the top down all the time. Unfortunately, the already tight rear seating is likely to only get worse with a convertible. Trunk space might also suffer.We’re guessing owners would be willing to give up some practicality for style. And if Subaru gets the price right, the Japanese automaker should have no problem finding customers. The BRZ Coupe is expected to start around $25,000 when it goes on sale next year which means the BRZ Convertible may start around $30,000 if it goes into production for the 2014 model year.

2011 Toyota Fun-Vii Concept Heading to the Tokyo Show

2012 Toyota GT 86

After months of speculations and intense testings and preparations, the production version of the Toyota FT 86 is finally here. And while the design language remains faithful to the concept, Toyota has came with a surprise: they have changed the name. The car will be called GT 86 as a tribute to Toyota’s GT car heritage and the exhilarating drivability of the Corolla Levin AE86. Official debut will be made in just a few days in Tokyo.

The new GT 86 is based on an entirely new platform and features a low, highly aerodynamic bodyshell. Under the hoof it will get the same engine as its Subaru sibling: a 2.0 liter, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. However, for the Toyota model this engine will only deliver 300 HP, while Subaru has promised that their model will go up to about 300 HP. Customers will have to choose between a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

The car’s exterior design remains pretty much similar to the FT-86 II concept. This means an enlarged lower grille, bold "Soprion" styling to the lower grille, 17" wheels, a rear spoiler, twin rear exhausts and the "86" piston logo. But while the exterior is strictly oriented to sportiness, the interior is also offering a business allure and as Toyota promised is entirely driver-focused.

Despite the long we will still give the new GT 86 the prize for the most beautiful sports car of the year. The car is not only a sports car, but it also combines elegance with beauty and aggressiveness. Its true the exterior design brings nothing new as we have seen it both in the concept cars and leaked images, but it still impressed us.

Up front the GT 86 has received a new Toyota design language: Under Priority frontal design with an enlarged lower grille and a bold "Scorpion" styling to the lower grille. The car will sit on a 17" alloy wheels and at the rear will get a rear spoiler, twin rear exhausts and the "86" piston logo.

A sporty exterior has been combined with a driver-focus interior. The car’s cockpit is further reinforced by carbon effect trim, a sporting, all-black roof lining, red upholstery stitching, aviation-style rocker switchgear and lightweight aluminum pedals. It comes with a large tachometer that offers a at-a-glance visibility and readability during sports driving. The steering wheels measures only 365 mm, the smallest yet fitted to a Toyota and has been finished in buckskin finish. The front seat has been designed to offer great comfort, but also to prevent elbows from interfering with gearshift operation.

The new Toyota GT 86 measures just 4,240 mm long, only 1,285 mm high and with a wheelbase of 2,570 mm. It offers a near-perfect, 53:47 weight distribution and a center of gravity of only 475 mm.Under the hood you will find the same engine as in the upcoming Subaru BRZ production car. This means a 2.0 liter, naturally-aspirated petrol engine featuring Toyota’s D-4S technology. With separate twin injectors for both direct and port injection, and a high compression ratio of 12.5:1, D-4S increases power and torque over a wide range of engine speeds without sacrificing fuel efficiency and environmental performance.

In the Toyota model this engine will only deliver 200 HP at 7000 rpm and maximum torque of 151 lbs-ft at 6600 rpm, but Subaru has promised a total of 300 HP. The engine can be combined with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The manual transmission will offer quick, precise shifting via the highly engaging action of a tactile, short-throw lever, whilst the automatic transmission will be controlled by sporting, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts.

The engine’s power will be distributed to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential.

The new Toyota GT 86 will be making its world debut in just a few days at the Tokyo Auto Show and will go on sale in the summer of 2012. An official announcement for the North American market will most likely be made in Detroit.

The paddle-shift e-Gear will be the only available transmission.The retractable top is soft, and it folds under what Lamborghiniclaims is the largest single piece of automotive carbon fiber. 2012 Ford Mustang GT Velocity Edition: Specs and Photos

Due to the fact that the German tuning company Velocity has proven a simpathy for the American muscle cars, it has appearently decided to worl at the Ford Mustang GT, which will be unveiled at the 2011 Essen Motor Show.

The tuning program prepared for this car is one a little more special than others, and that is because it features lots of customizations. Called the Velocity Edition, the car features a new vented hood, and a new trunk lid that appears to have been made using high-quality carbon. Notable additions on the Mustang GT include new KW coilovers that allow for precise setting of the ride height and adjustable for rebound and compression, a new set of 22″ Giovanni ’Martuni’ wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires, and finally, a new and bigger set of brake discs to ensure shorter braking distances for the American muscle car.

This sounds pretty awesome, and now we can really understand why this program is unique and distinctive. But this ain’t all, we still have to mention the engine.

The installation of a new Roush compressor unit has increased the output of the car’s 5.0-liter V8 engine from 412 horsepower all the way up to 519 horsepower. On top of that, the tuning company also installed a new muffler unit, a new shifter lever, and an improved digital gear display.
This proves that the tuning of this car manages to reach all topics needed.

The pricing of the Mustang GT Velocity Edition is €74,999, which is around $100,900 based on current exchange rate.

Delavilla R1 Based on Porsche Cayman Official: Info and Specs

The Delavilla company is quite a youngster in the world of tuning, having its roots in France. The latest model in range of the tuner is a rebuild based on the Porsche Cayman.


The modifications start at the bodywork, which has completely beenrevised and changed. Delavilla added 12cm of width at the front and 18cm at the rear, creating a more agressive and sporty look for the Porsche. This, merged with a new front bumper with LED lights and special fog lights manages to complete the appearance in the same idea.


Four vertical exhaust pipes, above a wide air outlet have been also added to the rear, while large air inlets required to cool the internal mechanics change completely the classic side panels of the Carrera GT.

Honda’s 2012 CR-V- More Efficient with Excellent Operating Systems

Honda’s 2012 CR-V will be released soon. Maybe by the end of the next year, Honda will backfire this newly built upgraded vehicle to the market. However, meanwhile the company is planning to manufacture more eco-friendly electric vehicle under the brand name of Fit EV. At first this Fit EV will be available on lease in two major cities like California and Oregon. In addition East Coast automobile sectors will promote this car on lease as well most probably in 2013.
In a press note, the company’s secretary has told reporters that the company will do some experiments by releasing the first set of approximately 1100 Fit EVs to feel the likelihood of customers. Depending on the response from both consumers and experts, Honda will try to increase the number of cars for sale.
Fit EV car is equipped with a 20 kWh lithium ion type battery to power the vehicle. However there will be the provision for a 92KW capacitated coaxial electric motor collected from the FCX Clarity. In a statement, the chairperson has made it clear that the car will have a 3-mode electric driving attachment which has been engineered in imitation of CR-Z Sport hybrid. There are three important modes like Econ, Sport and Normal. These modes are used to ensure acceleration or technical upgradation. A comparison study has confirmed the betterment of driving range system via Econ comparing to Normal. The percentage of driving range varies by 17% whereas the Sport drive mode puts emphasis on acceleration.
Honda management team is trying to increase the reputation of the production unit by manufacturing more environment friendly cars to assist consumers for getting benefits. Fit EV is rechargeable and it needs around 3 hours for charging the car. 2013 Audi A4

The current Audi A4 sedan, introduced as a 2009 model, sees a refresh for 2013. In front, there’s a new bumper, headlights, hood and grille. The taillights and rear valance also see subtle changes. No announcements have been made regarding whether the 1.8 will make its way to the U.S. Stateside. For the record, Audi offers six TDI and four gasoline engine options in Germany, for a total of 23 possible engine-transmission combinations for the A4—a veritable nightmare for dealers’ parts bins. The steering has also been reworked on the 2013 Audi A4. The new electromechanical arrangement with direct gear ratios promises a precise feel, with the added benefit of not drawing any energy from the powertrain when driving straight. The result? Improved fuel economy.
Inside the cabin, the 2013 Audi A4 has a new ignition key and several steering wheel options. What’s more, the MMI Navigation Plus system now has four buttons with script function, whereas the previous version had eight. Also, the selection of colors, materials and finishes for the interior has been broadened.
Pricing for the refreshed 2013 Audi A4 in the U.S. hasn’t been announced. In Europe, however, the improvements have bumped the price of the car by about $660. 

The future of 2013 Mercedes-Benz AMG starts with all-electric SLS E-Cell

It is towards the end of 2012, that we will get to see the first all electric AMG product. Mercedes will start taking orders for SLS AMG E cell by the middle of next year. The test drives and deliveries are scheduled to begin towards the end of next year. According to Ola Kallenius, although the range and curb weight have not been finalised yet the development of the all electric car, all wheel drive is going on at a rapid pace. Kallenius is of the opinion that inspite of the extra weight of the lithium ion battery; it will have an exceptional performance. It will be due to the ability of AMG product to control independently the torque output to the wheels through the electric motors.
Although it is an important move for the brand but the SLS AMG E cell is just the first move ahead. Implementation of electric drivetrains and a variety of Kinetic Energy Recovery System will accompany AMGs in the near future. However, Kallenius has not committed on which model will be benefited by this technology. According to him utilization of alternative powerstrains will play an important role in AMG’s tire-shredding efforts.

2014 Audi R5 Spyder

The upcoming Audi R5 roadster has routinely been called the “Baby R8,” in reference to its design similarities with the German automaker’s high-performance mid-engine supercar. We doubt Audi minds the comparison. This new entry-level Audi sports car is being developed in cooperation with VW and Porsche, both of which will spin off their own variations. This illustration offers a look at what Audi’s convertible version will look like. A hardtop coupe is also planned.
VW already offered a preview of what’s to come at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, where it displayed its sleek 2-seat diesel-powered Concept Bluesport. Porsche has been a tad more secretive, but we expect its version to slot beneath the Boxster in size, power and price. A 1.9-liter flat-4 cylinder engine will power the Porsche, whereas traditional inline-4 cylinders (and possibly an inline-5) will motivate the VW and Audi. The platform will accommodate rear- and all-wheel-drive systems. Hybrid and electric-powered versions are also possible.
We had a sneak peek at what’s to come with the R5 when Audi invited us drive the e-tron Spyder, a concept car we called “essentially a mid-engine short-wheelbase Audi R8.” The two cars share a common floorpan. However, befitting its status as a concept vehicle, the e-tron Spyder has a carbon-fiber body draped over a custom aluminum space frame. The powertrain consists of a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6, a CVT and an electric drive system on the front axle.Even at the mandated low speeds, we noted the “overall dynamics felt more like a Porsche Boxster’s than an Audi TT’s.” Also earning praise was the e-tron Spyder’s open cabin, which “made a Boxster seem tight” in comparison. Nimble handling and a solid feel—even for a concept car—left us excited to drive the production version. That wait could stretch a couple more years, as sales are not expected before 2014.

2012 Mercedes CL 800 Coupe By Brabus: Official Info and Specs

One of the cars that will deffinitely make this year’s Dubai Motor Show edition very veruy special is the 2012 Mercedes CL 800 Coupe By Brabus, which will be the world’s fastest and most powerful luxury coupe. The Brabus 800 Coupe was based on the Mercedes CL600 and as we are about to see, the combination between the two companies has brought one of the most interesting result.

In order to improve performance, the standard Mercedes CL600 received a few aerodynamic changes which include a new front spoiler, an understated rear spoiler on the trunk lid, and a rear fascia insert. These upgrades have been rigurously tested in the wind tunnel in order to ensure that they will be succesful. After this, the car received a new set of wheels, size 18″ to 22″ depending on the customer’s wishes, and a lowering module to bring the two-door car by some 25 millimeters (about 1″).

A combination of white leather and black Alcantara with contrasting seams and diamond-pattern top-stitching make the interiour of the car, along with an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel, Brabus logo, aluminum pedals, foot rest, and shifter and seats combined with carbon-fiber elements.

And now for the icing on the cake, the outstanding upgrades that were brought to the Mercedes CL600 by Brabus. First, the displacement of the engine was increased from 5.5L to 6.3L, then added a high-end turbocharging system designed by the Brabus engine specialists. This system features two custom exhaust manifolds with integrated turbine housings and high-performance turbochargers, as well as four water-to-air intercoolers. A carbon-fiber ram-air intake was also integrated into the hood.

The result of all this is 800 HP at a low 5,500 rpm and 1,047 lb-ft of torque available from 2,100 rpm. However, the peak torque will be limited electronically to 811 lb-ft, but even having that limitation, the sprint from 0 to 60 mph is still made in 3.9 seconds and the 0 to 124 mph sprint in 10.3 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 217 mph.

Unfortunately, pricing isn’t yet availailable, but we will sure keep an eye on this one.

Range Rover Evoque by Startech to Debut at Dubai Motor Show

The uniquely designed crossover Evogue is the Range Rover’s newest and smallest model and has received an on-road oriented tuning package for both the three- and five-door versions of the car from Startech, a sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz specialist Brabus. Ths new version of the Evogue will make its debut this week at the 2011 Dubai International Motor Show.

As far as looks are concerned, this pcakage proves itself to be really generous, including front grille, newly shaped front and rear bumpers, spoiler and air inlets that are said to have been fine-tuned in the wind tunnel to reduce lift on the front axle at high speeds. Also featuring on the Startech-tuned Evoque are the new tailpipes that can be fitted to the standard exhausts or Startech’s own stainless steel muffler and the integrated rear diffuser.

The height of the car has been lowered by 35mm , having the standard wheels replaced by 21-inch Monostar R five-spoke forged alloys fitted with high-performance 265/40 tires. The option for 20- or 22-inch wheels is also vailable for the customers.

The interiour has also beenlooked at, now being upgraded with custom upholstery made of leather and Alcantara not only in the demonstration car’s black and white livery, but also in any color and design the customer prefers. Wood or carbon fiber trim finish off the Startech treatment.

Now, the engine. The Startech-tuned Evoque is powered by a performance kit for the SI4 2.0-liter gasoline engine, which has a standard output of 240HP, and which is still in development. But details will be available sometime, so we will stay tuned.

McLaren Special: Rendering

Even though the result of the McLaren MP4-12C was rather dissapointing considering McLaren’s formidable reputation for speed – 7:28 Nurburgring lap time, and even though the vehicle also had to deal with the safety issues that have recently plagued its existence, the company has already started to work its way past these problems and have even laid out a number of variants that will hopefully hit the market at a faster rate with better results.

It is common knowledge that McLaren will update the software needed to fix the problems, and we never thought different, reason for which we will not follow others example and make an enormous mess about some trouble the automaker truthfuly got itself in.

Which model will be the first to hit the market remains unknown, unfortunatelly, but what isn’t unknown is that McLaren has three options in their automotive pockets to dazzle the crowds in their chosen auto show: the McLaren MP4-12C Spider, the McLaren MP4-12C GT version, and the new successor for the F1 supercar, being called the McLaren MegaMac.

Until everything will be revealed and there will not be any more secrets to keep, renderings for all three modelsare available now, in order to soothe our pain of not knwing.

Hennessey HPE700 Camaro

Drooling again? That's alright; the thought of a new Camaro powered by the Corvette ZR1's supercharged LS9 V-8 has that effect. And that's exactly the car that Hennessey Performance Engineering of Sealy, Texas, plans to build. Although a stock LS9 makes plenty of power (638 bhp), Hennessey says it took only "minor tweaking" for the supercharged V-8 in the upcoming HPE700 to produce 705 bhp and 717 lb.-ft. of torque.

The LS9, a GM engine, is a natural fit in Hennessey's Camaro, which will have a ZR1-inspired hood design with a clear window to show off the hot V-8. With full suspension upgrades, 15-in. carbon-ceramic brakes from the ZR1, a custom body kit and Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires, the HPE700 will be pricey ("north of $100,000," says John Hennessey), but we get the sense it will be a phenomenal car. Why? Well, for one thing, HPE has hired recently retired GM engineering ace John Heinricy to help develop all the company's Camaros, which will be available in stages that vary from mild to wild. What's more, a July testing trip to the Nürburgring is on the agenda.

2013 Infiniti G Coupe

The first reports concerning the next-generation Infiniti G sedan and coupe, codenamed V37, have trickled into the R&T offices. The exterior body style was approved recently by Nissan design chief Shiro Nakamura. We hear from sources inside Nissan’s design studio that the new G, especially the coupe version, will borrow heavily from the styling of the Essence show car, which we saw at the Geneva Motor Show last March.
Around that time, the Financial Times reported that Nissan and Daimler were working together on a future luxury car. We hear that this joint project is the G Coupe (not so much the sedan). Our sources say that the next Infiniti G Coupe will be powered by Mercedes-Benz’s 3.5-liter V-6, with a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V-6 as an option for Europe. In other markets, including the U.S., it will be available with the M Hybrid’s gas-electric system and AMG’s 5.5-liter V-8 that will produce upward of 360 bhp. The latter will most likely wear the IPL (Infiniti Perform­ance Line) badge and go after BMW 6 Series and Maserati GranTurismo customers. While the base G sedan is expected to come with a mid-$30,000 price tag, you can expect the hybrid version to be priced near $55,000 and the V-8-powered Coupe to cost around $70,000. There is the slight possibility that Infiniti will decide to build a coupe version of the M sedan, and place the V-8 (or even a more powerful engine, perhaps the 6.2-liter AMG V-8) under its hood. But one Nissan insider says that the company’s priority is to bring glory back to the Skyline appellation (the G in Japan is called the Skyline) after it was dropped from the GT-R’s name with the R35. Look for the new G sedan and coupe to appear in 2013.

Lexus Revealed 2012 Special Edition Models for LS 460, ES 350 and CT 200h

The Japanese car maker Lexus today announced Special Edition models for the 2012 LS 460, ES 350 and CT 200h. The manufacturer claims that the new models come with numerous exclusive exterior and interior features for an even sportier look and feel.

“The Special Edition models will offer our customers choices to fit their luxury and sporty needs,” said Mark Templin, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager. “With the unique and exclusive package offerings, the Special Edition models further demonstrate Lexus’ commitment to our customers.”

The luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation Lexus revealed not only the official specs for these special editions, but also announced Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) as follow:

- $77,000 for the 2012 LS 460 Sport Special Edition
- $40,475 for the 2012 ES 350 Touring Edition
- $37,995 for the 2012 CT 200h F Sport Special Edition. 

Keep in mind that the MSRPs do not include a delivery, processing and handling fee of $875. 

According to Lexus, the CT 200h Special Edition will arrive at dealerships in October, while the LS and ES Special Editions will arrive in November. 

If you want one of these beauties, you shoul hurry because production of the Special Edition models will be limited to 250 units of the LS Sport Special Edition, 2,000 units of the ES 350 Touring Edition and 900 units of the CT 200h F Sport Special Edition. 

LS 460 Sport Special Edition

Introduced for 2010MY, the LS 460 Sport package will be available only for the 2012 LS 460 Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) model including all existing Sport package performance and appearance elements, and a distinctive interior package.
