Acura New RL Sedan to be introduced at the 2012 New York Auto Show

If reports are to be believed, then it says that the Motor Show to be held in Detroit next month will witness a new concept model which will be a replacement for the NSX sports car and will be presented by Acura. Along with that there will be the ILX compact sedan and the 2013 RDX crossover which is facelifted. However, this is not all that Honda has in store for 2012. It has much more to offer other than this. As reported by Car and Driver that a brand new replacement of the RL sedan will be launched by Acura in an Auto Show to be held in New York in the month of April, 2012 and will go on sale thereafter.

The executives of the company told the magazine that new model will be a nimble, lightweight as well as economical. This model will be equipped with All-wheel drive system which makes use of a 3.5 l V6 gasoline engine in order to power the front wheels and also the two electric motors for the wheels at the back. It is said that in appearance, the new model will resemble the TL on a large scale, with an increased dimension of the exterior close to the BMW 5-series, while space for the passenger will be comparable to the 7 series.

Other details are still to be disclosed and as the date for the launch of the new model progresses we will get to know more on this. Volvo’s New V60 D6 Plug-In Diesel-Electric Hybrid in Europe

After the appearance of the new V60 D6 Plug in Hybrid in the Motor Show at Geneva held last March, Volvo has presented with more information and pricing in some countries which also include Britain, where it is available for order from early 2012 with the first deliveries that is expected to begin from November. In the UK, this model will cost from £45,000 and £50,000 which does not include the plug-in Car Grant government subsidy. The V60 D6, pegged as the first diesel electric plug in hybrid model in the world is equipped with a 2.4 L five cylinder turbodiesel which gives an output of 215 HP and 440 Nm torque which drives the front wheels through a six speed automatic transmission and an electric motor of 70 HP which draws energy from a lithium ion battery of 11.2 kWh.

The new model can work in three different modes. In the hybrid mode the diesel as well as the electric engine works parallely achieving upto 621 miles and emitting 49g/km CO2. While in pure mode, it is powered by the electric mode which offers a range of 32 miles. The driver can select power mode for maximum result. In this mode both the motors work together giving an output of 215HP +70HP and 440+200 Nm torque respectively. In this case this model accelerates upto 100km/hr in 6.2 seconds.

The plug in hybrid model has received much attention and now another step is taken while presenting the production model with a distinctive profile characterised by a spectacular silver colour, standard equipment and an exclusive exterior. The standard specifications include a 17 inch alloy wheels, exhaust pipes and a plug-in hybrid logo in the front wings and the tailgate. The interior modifications include contrasting stitches, blue green wood inlays, power steering depending on speed, driver’s seat electrically adjustable and many more things. 2012 Porsche Panamera GTS

The 2012 Porsche Panamera GTS was unveiled last November 16, 2011 during the Los Angeles Auto Show. The sportiest of all Panamera model is easily distinguished through its distinctive front, side and rear area design most especially with its highlights. It features a black exterior package with side window trims, headlight washer unit cover, rear diffuser, trim on the rear lid, and the black side skirts. Its body is lowered by 10 millimeters, and offers more power and larger brake discs.The Panamera GTS is a four passenger, all-wheel drive powered by a 4.8 liter V8 engine that generates 430 horsepower at 6,700rpm and 384 lb-ft of torque, 30 horsepower higher than the Standard 4S model. The standard transmission used for this engine is a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe that sends power to all four wheels simultaneously, providing a comfortable and efficient performance.

The 2012 Panamera GTS can go from 0 to 60mph in 4.3 seconds, with the top speed at 178mph. The fuel consumption is also remarkable with 10.9liter/100km, and only 10.7liter/100km when using low-friction tires.The GTS features a leather interior and Alcantara surfaces with SportsDesign steering wheel including shift paddles and 18-way adaptive sports seats. The standard equipment consists of Porsche Communication Management that features touch-screen satellite navigation, front and rear ParkAssist, cruise control and a 3-year warranty. 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe with Child Restraint Systems

When Mercedes Benz CLS sedan car has already raised a technical revolution in the automobile industry, BMW is trying hard to launch more energy efficient coupe models which will have three compartments. The first compartment will house drive-train attachment; the middle compartment is the cockpit where driver will sit on to drive the car and the rear compartment for passengers. The rear boot lid is adjustable to the rear compartment. 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran is the concept vehicle which will surely compete with other sophisticated vehicles.

In an official statement, the CEO of the BMW has claimed that this time, experts have been instructed to install the child restraint system just in the middle of rear outboard seats. The child restraint quasi usable squad with restraint belts must be properly fixed using the anchors which are supposed to be anchored just behind the rear outboard seats. Instead of placing the child on the outboard rear seats of the compartment, it will be more helpful to fix the seat in the middle of the left and right rear outboard seats.

2013 6 Series Gran coupe will be uploaded with a 640i powertrain which will be further upgraded with BMW’s N55 type 3.0 liter capacitated turbo-charged inline-6 attachment. The drive train tool is energy efficient. The fuel economy is excellent whereas the carbon emission tendency is remarkably low. This vehicle will generate 315 hp and 330 pound-feet torque. 2014 Lotus Esprit

The legend is back! Lotus has unveiled today the new Esprit sports car. Described as the "ultimate Lotus," the new Esprit will go into production at the end of 2012, with first deliveries beginning in late 2013, early 2014. Lotus announced an estimated price of £110,000 ($175,000 at the current rates).

At the unveiling of the Evora S model in San Jose in June 2011, Lotus Cars USA PR boss, Kevin Smith, confirmed that the Esprit supercar would be getting Lotus’ in-house V8 engine and both a manual and a dual-clutch transmission. This V8 engine was originally said to deliver between 550 - 570 HP, but actually achieved 570 HP at around 9000rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque at a bit higher than 3000rpm. Lotus Chief Technical Officer, Wolf Zimmermann, says this engine can reach up to 630 HP at 9,400 rpm and 424 lb-ft of torque between 5,500 and 6,000rpm. The V8 weighs in at about 375 lbs, which is about 176 lbs lighter than the original 5.0L V8 Lotus was going to borrow from Lexus. It will be used for both the Esprit and, as confirmed by Smith, an even more exotic Elite.

"One has to be very careful when taking on the challenge of reinventing such an iconic classic as the Esprit – everyone has an opinion. There’s a fine balance between acknowledging the greatness of the past whilst at the same time rapidly leaping forward to the future and ensuring that this car not only does the name Esprit justice but also the Lotus brand. I think we’ve managed to find the balance and in doing so created a new icon, a car people will find hard to resist."

 Lotus officials has confirmed that the next generation Esprit will be powered by a 4.8 liter V8 engine. This new engine will deliver a total of 570 HP in standard version, but the company will be also offering a higher-tuned variant with an output of 620 HP. (Autoblog)

2014 Subaru BRZ Convertible

The 2013 Subaru BRZ was recently revealed during the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show and speculation is already building about a convertible version of this hot rear-wheel-drive sports coupe. We recently got behind the wheel of the BRZ and raved about the car’s flexible nature, which blends spirited dynamics with everyday practicality. Having a drop-top variant would only increase the enjoyment levels – especially when it comes to basking in the “exuberant” exhaust note of the car’s 200-bhp 2.0-liter flat-4 cylinder.At the moment, the BRZ Coupe is good for a 0-60 mph sprint of less than 7 seconds. A convertible would undoubtedly add some extra mass onto the coupe’s 2,770 lb. curb weight. That might take a slight edge off performance; yet according to some sources, a convertible is part of the BRZ (and mechanically identical Toyota 86/Scion FR-S) project. That means the chassis should cope with the loss of the hardtop using only a minimal amount of extra bracing. Like the coupe, expect a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with paddle shifters.No word yet as to whether the BRZ drop-top might be fabric, or a folding metal system. To keep the price low, we think Subaru is more likely to opt for a cheaper and less complex fabric top. From these computer-generated images, you might want to just leave the top down all the time. Unfortunately, the already tight rear seating is likely to only get worse with a convertible. Trunk space might also suffer.We’re guessing owners would be willing to give up some practicality for style. And if Subaru gets the price right, the Japanese automaker should have no problem finding customers. The BRZ Coupe is expected to start around $25,000 when it goes on sale next year which means the BRZ Convertible may start around $30,000 if it goes into production for the 2014 model year.
